TSPE COMMITTEE CHARGES
2007-2008
AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIP – Sandra Knight, PE, F.NSPE, Chair
Recognize the achievements of TSPE members who have made a significant
contribution to the engineering profession in Tennessee and present awards at
the Annual Meeting
BUDGET – John Cole, PE, Chair
Review financial reports and prepare a proposed budget for consideration by the
Board of Directors (no later than March 15).
COMMUNICATIONS & PUBLIC RELATIONS – ,
Engage the membership with improved communications, parley our web presence into
a valuable asset, and develop a sustainable communications plan.
EDUCATION OUTREACH – Joe Carson, PE, CHAIR
Provide continuing education opportunities at the TSPE Annual Meeting;
provide/facilitate continuing education opportunities throughout the year as
possible; and coordinate continuing education information among chapters.
LEGISLATIVE & GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS – Everett Cowan, PE, CHAIR
Offer guidance to the Executive Director on issues before the Tennessee General
Assembly; present issues to the TSPE Board for consideration; assist the
Executive Director with planning Engineers’ Day on the Hill activities;
implement a communications plan for legislators; maintain a working relationship
with the State Architects’ and Engineers’ Board; and work cooperatively with
ACEC of Tennessee.
MATHCOUNTS – Harry Clark, PE, CHAIR
Organize and run the MATHCOUNTS program in Tennessee; use the program to promote
TSPE and the engineering profession to the public; and use the program to draw
engineers into membership in the local TSPE chapters.
MEETINGS – Tom Needham, PE, Chair
Offer guidance to the staff in planning for the Board Retreat and Annual Meeting
NOMINATING – Robert Campbell, Jr., PE, Chair
Develop a slate of officers to be on the TSPE ballot in compliance with the
process established in TSPE’s Constitution and Bylaws and recommend Fellows for
the TSPE Board’s consideration for nomination to NSPE.
SOCIETY DEVELOPMENT – Tom Needham, PE, Chair
Develop and implement a membership recruitment effort, thereby increasing the
size and viability of the chapters and the state organization; work with ACEC of
Tennessee to develop the Partners program; work with the Communications and PR
Committee to present our membership as the public face of the Society and with
Chapters to develop the plans, programs and approaches we will use to revitalize
the grass roots of the Society.
